This pool, designed and built by Contemporary Pools Qld, was created with two distinct usable spaces in mind – the pool itself and a lush, sprawling green lawn. This maximises space by levelling out a sloping backyard to ensure the entire outdoor area flows seamlessly between the open-plan home and the timber deck. The brief of this pool and outdoor area needed to incorporate balance in accordance with the available space, as well as symmetry, a modern entertaining zone and a combination of soft and hard landscaping.

The owners of the property had a clear vision of their dream backyard, so Contemporary Pools Qld worked closely with the homeowners over a period of eight months to design and refine the entire space to ensure they were fully satisfied.

Contemporary Pools Qld integrated straight lines, a contemporary colour scheme, a beautiful multi-level decking and an open-plan design in both the pool and lawn area, which is a testament to the work for which the company is renowned.

The 4.5m x 4.5m pool was built to one side of the backyard, as the owners of the property elected to keep an existing tree to be incorporated in the final design. The pool’s position towards the rear of the backyard meant that masonry walls and terracing needed to be integrated to level the sloping block, while still allowing ample space around the pool for entertaining.

Contemporary Pools Qld utilised timber seating around the pool and step highlights, which enhances the space and complements the Kwila decking beautifully. French-cut marble on the pool’s feature wall accompanies the outdoor fireplace, and the walls were painted to match the home itself, which includes marble floors to tie into the home’s colours and existing palette. The entire finished space is beautifully designed and boasts simplicity and meticulous attention to detail, creating an ideal haven for year-round entertaining.

The company did not skimp on quality, which is evident in its use of premium mechanisms and technology. The pool includes two pool pumps, an onga eco 800 and Waterco supatuf 150, as well as a Waterco Micron s602 filter and spa electrics Wn 950 blue led lights.

Contemporary Pools Qld encountered slight challenges while working with the property’s sloping block, which included a solid rock site, so excavation was extremely challenging. Access for construction was only one metre and up a steep incline, so all materials, including ten metric tonne of besser blocks and three tonne of steel, were hand-carried from the street to the construction site. The company worked closely with seeto steel, Brisbane Mini excavations and Total Terrazo to overcome these challenges.
