This beautiful outdoor space by DDLA Landscape Architecture & Urban Design was built to replace the original flood- ravaged terraces. The client wanted a resort-style area that could be used for entertaining, exercise and relaxation.

The pool features three stunning sheet-fall water features that can be illuminated for a beautiful effect. The pool is the perfect size for exercise and relaxation. The addition of the sunken sun-lounge deck creates resort-style appeal, while also being a functional area for the entire family.

DDLA Landscape Architecture & Urban Design positioned the sunken sun-lounge deck above an underground water tank, and between the pool terrace and the river. This allowed the pool fence to be relocated to the edge of the sunken deck. The fence relocation takes advantage of the gorgeous Brisbane River by offering unobstructed views from the pool and the terrace.

An outdoor shower, a small amphitheatre, fruit trees and a sandstone step path leading to the pontoon were added to increase the functionality and resort-style appeal of the space. The layout focusses on increasing the usable area, while maintaining a spacious appearance.

The sheltered outdoor barbecue area was moved to the western boundary, along with the stairs from the upper terrace. The space includes a seating niche, arbour, built-in day bed and barbecue, which combine to create the perfect entertaining area.

The positioning of the barbecue area increases privacy from neighbours, while also offering greater protection from inclement weather. The orientation of the barbecue area also takes advantage of the stunning views across the river.
