The homeowners wanted a lap pool to accommodate their child’s swimming ambitions, providing a practical design to enable training at home. In addition, a design was sought which also incorporated a relaxation feature for the parents to enjoy leisure time whilst the children enjoyed the pool. Because of this, a lap pool with a spillover spa was designed to meet the clients’ needs. This ensured practicality, along with an aesthetically pleasing leisure area.
The long narrow design also addressed the pressing issue of limited space. The 12.5m x 2.5m concrete pool has a washed pebble finish with black coloured chip added to achieve a crisp blue colouring to the water. To enhance the sophistication of this design, the 2.5m x 2m spa and spillover area is fully tiled with charcoal pearl glass tiles. The glass tiles were also incorporated into the lap pool by being used as step and bench highlighters.
Natural Himalayan Quartz was used for the coping, and was selected to match the same tiles used under the owner’s entertainment area to enable a seamless transition from the entertaining area to the outdoor pool area, and to also assist in creating the impression of more space.

In 2009 they received multiple awards at the SPASA Awards: gold for Best Domestic Lap Pool, silver for Best Traditional Domestic Pool under $30,000, bronze for Pool Shop of the Year, and a Save water/Eco-Pool award.
